Agricultural cooperative obtains calamansi processing facility



THE Kalamansi Farmers’ Agricultural Cooperative of Barangay Bagong Sikat in the town of Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija was shown its new Calamansi processing facility by Department of Agriculture (DA) officials.

The facility was established under the DA RFO III High Value Crops Development Program Fund for FY 2022 Regular Program in the amount of Php 1,397,749.98 with the supply of a juicer / Calamansi extractor. The design of said facility complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as one of the requirements for the product to be FDA approved.

High Value Crops and Rural Credit (HVCRC) Under Secretary Evelyn G. Lavina led the ceremony along with Elma S. Mananes, DA RFO 3 Field Operations Division Chief, HVCDP Regional Engineer . AB P. David, agricultural program coordinator June Lacasandile and provincial agronomist Bernardo Valdez.

The processing plant will help all members of the cooperative to increase their income through value addition.

On behalf of Regional Executive Director Crispulo G. Bautista Jr., Mananes expressed his gratitude to all members who attended the award ceremony. She also commended the Palay and Kalamansi farmers agricultural cooperative for being the beneficiary of the processing facility. “With more mapataas pa natin ang inyong kita is of the same pagpoproseso ng kalamansi,” she pointed out.
