Cooperative banks improve access to agricultural credit: Minister

Panchayat Raj, Mines and Geology Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy said cooperative banks play a critical role in reviving the rural economy by improving access to agricultural credit.

“Services at the door”

Inaugurating a new branch of the Central Cooperative District Bank (DCCB) at the headquarters of Sadum mandal, the minister said the time had passed when farmers from rural areas traveled to cities to take advantage of banking services.

“Cooperative banks have brought about a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector by providing services at the doorstep of farmers. The increase in the number of cooperative bank branches in rural areas has made it easier for farmers to access loans. Farmers in rural areas are increasingly adopting digital transaction methods, ”said the Minister.

Mr. Ramachandra Reddy said the government is committed to transforming agriculture into a viable and profitable industry.

Chittoor MP M. Reddappa, DCCB Chairman K. Reddamma, MPs Dwarakanath Reddy, N. Venkate Gowda and senior DCCB officials from Chittoor and Madanapalle Divisions were also present on the occasion.
