Four people were fired for their alleged involvement in a loan fraud amounting to Rs 1 crore at the Gurudijhatia cooperative company in Cuttack.
The move came hours after police arrested six people in connection with loading irregularities at the Gurudijhatia cooperative society under the Athagarh branch of the Cuttack Central Cooperative Bank (CCB).
Bijay Kumar Das (44 years old), secretary of the Gurudijhatia company and Prabodha Ranjan Parida (28 years old), manager of the cooperative company, who had previously been suspended from their functions after the discovery of their involvement in the irregularities, were dismissed. Likewise, the former branch manager of Cuttack CCB, Pramod Kumar Das and deputy manager Nalinikanta Acharya were dismissed from their posts.
In addition, the former deputy director of the CCB agency in Athagarh, Jitendra Kumar Mohanty, has been demoted to the post of banking assistant.
The embezzled funds will be recovered from five accused people, a statement said.
Earlier today, six people were arrested in connection with the fraud.

“Some staff of the cooperative society had embezzled the money. Four staff members of the Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) and two staff of the cooperative society were arrested. They will be brought to justice,” he said. -he adds.
The defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy, embezzlement and counterfeiting of government documents.
