NDDB partners with Assam to usher in white revolution


A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Government of Assam for Dairy Development in Assam State, which led Union Minister Parshottam Rupala to say that the livestock sector can help realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling the income of the Farmers.

Union Minister Rupala and Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also unveiled the foundation stone for the Purabi dairy expansion project under the Assam Agribusiness & Rural Transformation project.

Rupala in his speech appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the state government for the growth and development of the dairy sector in Assam. He asserted that the new technology in the field of animal husbandry must reach the farmers so that they can reap the benefits.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said the initiatives taken by the state government will transform the rural economy and boost the dairy sector. He further added that under the MoU, a joint venture worth Rs 2,000 crore would be set up between the state government and the NDDB in Assam.

Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, AHVD and Cooperation, Government of Assam, said in his speech that this company will bring white revolution to the state and its goals of building transformative capacity milk to manage and add value to more than 10 lakh liters of milk every day. . This will not only help more than 1.75 lakh of farmers to increase their income, but it will also create huge jobs at different levels of the milk value chain, he added.

NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah, speaking on the dairy development program, said signing the MoU between NDDB and the government of Assam will bring about a significant change in the dairy sector as well as in the Rural Assam.

Tweeting about the event, Rupala wrote, “The ambitious goal of this joint venture is to build milk processing capacity to manage and add value to over 10 lakh liters of milk each day, doubling income farmers and completing the “Purabi Dairy” dairy development model. “

Minister of Livestock and Veterinarians, Mizoram, Dr K. Beichhua, Chairman of NDDB, Shri Meenesh Shah, Addl. Chief Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Govt. from Assam, Shri Maninder Singh, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Production, GoI, Shri Atul Chaturvedi were also present at the event.
